Me habían encargado un reportaje sobre mí mismo, de modo que comencé a seguirme para estudiar mis hábitos. En ésas, un día me dije: «Mi padre tenía un taller de aparatos de electromedicina.» Entonces se me apareció el taller, conmigo y con mi padre dentro. Él estaba probando un bisturí eléctrico see more sobre un filete de vaca. De súbito, me dijo: «Fíjate, Juanjo, cauteriza la herida en el momento mismo de producirla.» Comprendí que la escritura, como el bisturí de mi padre, cicatrizaba las heridas en el instante de abrirlas e intuí por qué era escritor. True Lies is a comprehensive study of the evolving functions of narrative self-consciousness in contemporary Spain. Arising from the philosophical conviction that our sense of space plays a direct role in our apprehension and construction of reality (both factual and fictional), this book investigates how conceptions of postmodern space have transformed the history of the impossible in literature. Deeply influenced by the work of Jorge Luis Borges and Julio Cortázar, there has been an unprecedented rise in the number of fantastic texts in which the impossible is bound to space — space not as scene of see more action but as impossible element performing a fantastic transgression within the storyworld. This book conceptualizes and contextualizes this postmodern, fantastic use of space that disrupts the reader’s comfortable notion of space as objective reality in favor of the concept of space as socially mediated, constructed, and conventional. Seine Werke beinhalten sowohl Reflexionen politischer see more und sozialer Hintergründe in Spanien, als auch autobiographische Elemente seiner eigenen Lebenserfahrung. Charakteristisch für diese Schriften sind die „obsesiones constantes del autor“, Schlüsselbegriffe, die konstant sein Schreiben begleiten und immer wieder in der einen oder anderen Form auftreten. Für das Verständnis der Erzählungen und Romane sind sie von entscheidender Bedeutung, demnach nicht zu unterbewerten. Zu dieser Gruppe von Elementen gehört der Begriff der Symmetrie, Hauptgegenstand dieser Arbeit, die aufzeigen soll in welchem Maße Millás mit diesem Thema arbeitet und welche Bedeutung es für sein Schreiben hat. Rowling, sondern auch durch spanischsprachige Autoren wie Carmen Martín Gaite und Juan José Millás gezeigt. see more Aus diesem Grund wird in vorliegender Arbeit ein Vergleich zweier Werke der beiden Schriftsteller durchgeführt. Aufgrund ihrer Gemeinsamkeiten werden Caperucita en Manhattan und El orden alfabético hier als Primärliteratur verwendet. Vor der Analyse von Millás' und Martín Gaites Büchern werden fantastische Elemente zunächst im Allgemeinen in einem Theorie-Teil erläutert. Dabei wird eine Einführung nach Todorov gegeben und Merkmale in der Erzählebene, die Bedeutung von Wirklichkeit und Realität, aber auch Raum, Zeit und die Motivik veranschaulicht. Anschließend erfolgt eine Abgrenzung der Fantastik von Märchen, Magischem Realismus und Fantasy. Danach wird das Neofantastische vorgestellt. Erst dann können die Werke El orden alfabético und Caperucita en Manhatten analysiert und miteinander verglichen werden. Dabei wird nach einer Inhaltszusammenfassung versucht, zu beantworten, welche literarischen Merkmale sich in den beiden Werken finden lassen. Danach werden jeweils Motive, Symbole und Charakteristika herausgearbeitet. Mit der Annahme, dass beide Protagonisten mitunter in einer Parallelwelt leben, ist im Anschluss zu fragen, welche Rolle die Fantasie spielt und inwieweit Traum und Realität in den Werken verschwimmen. Ein wesentlicher Punkt ist auch die Bedeutung von der Fantasmatik der Sprache bzw. Buchstaben. Bei der anschließenden komparatistischen Untersuchung stellen sich außerdem die Fragen: Welche inhaltlichen Gemeinsamkeiten gibt es? Lassen sich formale oder technische Übereinstimmungen finden? Haben die jeweiligen Protagonisten ähnliche Charaktere? Im Anschluss wird diskutiert, inwieweit sich beide Werke literaturwissenschaftlich einordnen lassen und ob sie eindeutig der Fantastik zuzuordnen sind. Nach einer Zusammenfassung der Ergebnisse der Arbeit wird zudem letztlich die Frage aufgeworfen, welche Bedeutung Millás' und Martín Gaites Schaffen für die Gegenwartsliteratur in Spanien hat.
